College Democrats Of NY Endorse Gillibrand
The College Democrats of New York today formally endorsed Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign for U.S. Senate – touting her vision to create opportunity for all of New York’s students by making college affordable, and arming them with the resources they need to compete and succeed in the 21st century economy.
College Democrats of New York President Ian Rivera said, “Kirsten is a leader that students and all young people can look up to in our state. She’s brought the energy and vision we need to rebuild our economy with new jobs and new opportunities, and make sure today’s young people are prepared for the jobs of the future. We look forward to a continued partnership between our organization and Senator Gillibrand as we work together to make college affordable so every hardworking student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential. As an organization of young people active in politics, we are proud to endorse one of the youngest Senators - Kirsten Gillibrand - and her campaign for the U.S. Senate."
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the College Democrats of New York,” Senator Gillibrand said. “We have a lot of work to do together to move forward on President Obama's agenda to make college affordable for every hardworking student, prepare our young people for the jobs of the future and make sure we’re providing every opportunity for today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders.”
The College Democrats of New York join a growing coalition of New York and national organizations standing with Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign, including New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), CSEA, United Food & Commercial Workers Local 1500 (UFCW), New York State Pipe Trades Association, New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF), National Federation of Federal Employees, New York State Council of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, the United Steelworkers, Office and Professional Employees Union, and AFSCME Local 264.

“Our economy still has a long way to go and we will not rest until everyone who wants a job can find one, but the economy is no longer in a free-fall. Democrats in Congress showed real leadership by supporting the Recovery Act. Unfortunately, Republicans - the Party of NO -refused to offer an alternative. They stood on the sidelines as President Obama and Congressional Democrats took the steps necessary to reverse the economic decline they inherited after eight years of failed Republican economic policies. Now, by cheering for the Act’s failure, the GOP remains on the wrong side of history. As President Obama and Democrats continue to take steps to strengthen our economy, it’s time for Republicans to stop saying 'No', quit playing politics and start working with us on behalf of American families and workers.” Read More...
