Vassar Democrats invade New Jersey
This weekend, ten Vassar Democrats ventured over to New Jersey to knock on doors, make calls, and get the word out for the Victory 2009 campaign, Corzine for Governor. We dispersed into the neighborhoods to make it known why we support the Governor, then joined the Governor at the NJ Italian-American Festival, where we strove to see that every person there wore a Corzine sticker before the day's end. The most frequently asked question we were asked was: Why should you care when you're not even from New Jersey? While the Governor's immediate responsibilities lie with the needs and concerns of the residents of his State, the Governor is, in fact, a national figure. Yes, he directly represents solely the residents of his state, but the Governor also conveys his views on national issues through his actions and words. We support a Governor who pledges to create new jobs, who has already worked tirelessly to ensure health insurance for all, and who will listen to what his state has to say.

“Our economy still has a long way to go and we will not rest until everyone who wants a job can find one, but the economy is no longer in a free-fall. Democrats in Congress showed real leadership by supporting the Recovery Act. Unfortunately, Republicans - the Party of NO -refused to offer an alternative. They stood on the sidelines as President Obama and Congressional Democrats took the steps necessary to reverse the economic decline they inherited after eight years of failed Republican economic policies. Now, by cheering for the Act’s failure, the GOP remains on the wrong side of history. As President Obama and Democrats continue to take steps to strengthen our economy, it’s time for Republicans to stop saying 'No', quit playing politics and start working with us on behalf of American families and workers.” Read More...
