Primary Day and the Start of the "Army of Change"

Today is primary day in NY.  Please remember to go out and vote.  Throughout the state there are many great races that will mean many Democratic pick ups come November.  There are races for State Senate and Congress as well as local races.  Please go out and vote and bring your friends with you. With the Primary season coming to an end this also marks an important change in the direction of College Democrats of NY.  Starting tommorow, we will have candidates in all of the races and CDNY will begin to send students to major districts.  This "Army of Change" will work in districts such as NY -2

Republicans Begin to Attack Obama

With the RNC going strong, last night the Republicans brought the attack dogs out.  From Rudy to Gov. Palin, a lot of volleys were thrown, but they had little substance to them.  The facts are these: Mayor Giuliani attacked Obama for being a community activist, yet Rudy never seemed to get his campaign off the ground.  He went from the favorite to win to the last place loser in only a few months.  In the end, Ron Paul, who is barely a Republican got more votes and delgates then Rudy. Next came Gov.

CDA/DNC Update

Hey guys sorry for the lack of updates but the CDNY members are on the floor of the DNC and are listening to Michelle and Ted Kennedy.  Check back tommorow for some stories of their first day at the DNC.

A quick CDA update

Hi everyone, just a quick update from the College Democrats of America Convention. There's a lot of stuff going on, all week, so we'll have a full recap later this week. The quick update: last night, Howard Dean spoke to CDA in the opening keynote address. We also got to see the C-SPAN bus (side note: if the C-SPAN bus were to get in a vechicle fight with the Straight Talk Express, the bus would definitely win), and tomorrow the keynote speaker is Newark mayor Corey Booker. That's all for now.

NY College Dems goes to CDA/DNC Conventions

On Thursday August 21 and Friday August 22, 30 members from the NY College Democrats state federation will be flying into Denver, Colorado to attend the College Democrats of America Convention.  The Convention kicks off with a bang with Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean speaking on Friday, followed by a video tribute to College Democrats by our next president, Barack Obama.  The Convention will be packed with events, speakers, panels and parties.

The Future OF CDNY

Welcome to the New CDNY blog, the home for progressive student politics.  Today ushers in a new day for CDNY as we kick off our Fall 2008 campaign season.  In less then a week, students from all over the state will be flocking back to their colleges, eager to see their friends, begin classes, and make a real difference in the general state of NY politics.  Across the state students will be working to turn the State senate Blue, to turn Upstate Congressional districts blue, and to elect Barack Obama as President.  This can not be done without support from both students and allies.  Students, pl

“As the CBO analysis shows, the Recovery Act has lessened the effects of the worst recession in a generation and is beginning to help turn things around.

“The CBO found the Recovery Act is responsible for 600,000 to 1.6 million jobs and has raised GDP by 1.2 to 3.2 percent. Without the Recovery Act these jobs would have either disappeared or never existed in the first place and this positive economic growth would not have been possible.

“Our economy still has a long way to go and we will not rest until everyone who wants a job can find one, but the economy is no longer in a free-fall. Democrats in Congress showed real leadership by supporting the Recovery Act. Unfortunately, Republicans - the Party of NO -refused to offer an alternative. They stood on the sidelines as President Obama and Congressional Democrats took the steps necessary to reverse the economic decline they inherited after eight years of failed Republican economic policies. Now, by cheering for the Act’s failure, the GOP remains on the wrong side of history. As President Obama and Democrats continue to take steps to strengthen our economy, it’s time for Republicans to stop saying 'No', quit playing politics and start working with us on behalf of American families and workers.” Read More...
