Stimulus Passes, No Republicans vote for Bill

Pres. Obama has gotten his stimulus package through, even with out the support of any Republican representatives. Although President Obama made a huge outreach to the Republicans, they all decided that they would rather be part of the past. Much like during the Great Depression they are voting against what the people need to survive. I guess the Republicans in Congress would rather listen to Rush Limbaugh then the plight of the people of their district. According to Minority whip Eric Cantor(R-VA):
"The onus is on Speaker Pelosi. She needs to meet with us.

State of the Republican Opposition

With President Obama reaching out to Republicans to help pass the bailout package, we are seeing the beginning of the bi partisan era in Washington.  As many Republicans are hearing from President Obama more in the short time he has been president then they heard from President Bush in eight years, many Republicans are still trying to stand strong in opposition to the President.  They prefer to take the side of the rich executives that continue to buy the corporate jets and continue to fight against measures to help stabilize the economy. This bill has the power to pass without the Republican r

NY New Senator

Ever since NY has picked a new senator, I have been thinking about the direction that the state is taking.  NY the state that gave Obama one of the largest victories in the country, has appointed a Senator who is rated by the National Review as the most conservative representative in the NY Congressional delegation. Our governor has pick the only representative in NY that received an A rating from the NRA. The next highest Democratic ranking was Congressman Arcuri with a C- rating. This is to not even mention her position on immigration.

Bishop Robinson to Open the Obama inaguration

The Obama team has just announced that openly gay Anglican pastor Bishop Robinson will saying the  opening prayer at the Lincoln Memorial to kick off the inauguration festivities. Bishop Robinson was the first openly gay bishop in the Anglican church. He has served as a major player in the LGBTQ movement. This will mark the first time that an LGBTQ clergy has given a prayer at the inauguration.

State Senate Offically Democratic

The State senate has offically become blue.  Sen. Malcolm Smith last night was able to broker a deal that would bring the Gang of three over to the Democratic side and ensured that he got the nessecary votes.  Heres what he needed to give according to the Daily News:
- Kruger, who ducked out without speaking to reporters, will chair the Finance Committee ($34,000 lu-lu), which Smith said does have a budget of between $5 million and $6 million. Sen.

Obama's Picks

With Obama's cabinet and advisors almost all picked, waht are the feelings of the College Democrats across our great state? Have they been good or bad and what are your feelings on the transition period? Finally what are your feelings on Rick Warren doing the invocation? Leave your comments below.

Auto Bailout

With the Auto bailout falling apart, here are a few things I think people should consider when they talk about the issue.
  1. We were willing to give all those billions to Wall street to people who had defrauded the country and donated to a lot of Republicans.
  2. Many of these same Republicans who were for the bailout of Wall street say that we can't bailout the Auto industry because we need to let the market take its course.  Well, I think that in a free market, shouldn't we have let Wall Street collapse?
  3. The auto industry failing will lead to a loss of 3 million jobs.
