Last night, around 11:30pm when most tv stations announced that Obama had won the presidency, students from all across New York spilled out of their dorm rooms and onto college campuses. The latest on the ground in Scranton, PA

Today, I traveled a good hour with members of my college democrats chapter in Binghamton, NY and we went to Obama's campaign office in Scranton, PA. Around 9am, I had left the Democratic Headquarters in Binghamton to arrive early for canvassing. Even at 9am in Binghamton, NY our democratic headquarters was packed with volunteers, waiting to be transported over the state border into the battleground.

What I Learned from Kos about Leadership

As a Political Science major in college, I have taken several campaigns and elections courses as well as voting behavior seminars. Yet few have helped me with leadership skills as the President of the College Democrats of NY as  Taking on the System by Kos. I realize that many of you have read his book I'm sure, but call me a late bloomer if you will, I didnt buy his book until 2 weeks ago, although I was so mesmerized by the reading that i finished it in 2 days.

Hinchey Rally at Binghamton University on Monday

Maurice Hinchey doesn't have a close race this election cycle but that hasn't stopped him from reaching out to young voters in his district. On Monday, Hinchey will be coming to the Binghamton University campus for a rally from 2-4pm, sponsored by the Binghamton College Democrats. He will be talking to students and answering questions in an effort to raise student awareness about the importance of voting in this Election.

“As the CBO analysis shows, the Recovery Act has lessened the effects of the worst recession in a generation and is beginning to help turn things around.

“The CBO found the Recovery Act is responsible for 600,000 to 1.6 million jobs and has raised GDP by 1.2 to 3.2 percent. Without the Recovery Act these jobs would have either disappeared or never existed in the first place and this positive economic growth would not have been possible.

“Our economy still has a long way to go and we will not rest until everyone who wants a job can find one, but the economy is no longer in a free-fall. Democrats in Congress showed real leadership by supporting the Recovery Act. Unfortunately, Republicans - the Party of NO -refused to offer an alternative. They stood on the sidelines as President Obama and Congressional Democrats took the steps necessary to reverse the economic decline they inherited after eight years of failed Republican economic policies. Now, by cheering for the Act’s failure, the GOP remains on the wrong side of history. As President Obama and Democrats continue to take steps to strengthen our economy, it’s time for Republicans to stop saying 'No', quit playing politics and start working with us on behalf of American families and workers.” Read More...
