CDNY's new Regional Directors

The College Democrats of New York have two new Regional Directors for the new semester. Max Weiss is now the Central New York Director, and Andrew Desmarais is the Director for the North Country region. Regional Directors act as representatives of their region's chapters, help maintain ties between chapters and other Democratic organizations in their areas, and help foster new chapters. Congratulations Andrew and Max!

"What's Next?"

There was a show that used to air on television (and can still probably be seen in many a dvd player) called The West Wing about a presidential staff faced with the challenge of trying to run the country.

CDNY in the News

As the numbers come out, it's becoming clear that young democrats and college democrats did a lot of work to help win this election.

Does your chapter need help to get out the vote? Let us know!

If you haven't heard, it's Get Out the Vote week, and chapters all over the state are sending out students to knock on doors and campaign. I just want to remind everyone that if your chapter is sending out people to help on a local or congressional election, remember that you can get help from CDNY by filling out a reimbursement request here. We need to get "boots on the ground" everywhere we can, and CDNY is here to help your chapter out. Let us help you lower the barrier to participation this weekend, and on Election Day!

Obama's Closing Argument.

Wow.

Getting Out the Vote: Two simple things you can do in two minutes

Election Day is almost here. We've knocked on doors, made phone calls, registered thousands of new voters, and participated in the election process of the most important election this country has had since 1932. We're at the home stretch, but our job is not done yet. It's "Get Out the Vote" time, or "GOTV". For those of you that never heard these terms before, it refers to a category of political activity aimed at increasing the number of votes cast in an election.

Help a Great Democrat in New York City!

I know it's last minute, but there's a great campaign event tomorrow that we would love for all of you to join! Tomorrow (Sunday), College Democrats in New York City will be joining St. John's University as they head out to support State Senate Candidate Jim Gennaro. Gennaro is engaged in a heated race with 36-year incumbent Frank Padavan in the 11th State Senate District. If you would like to join us, we will be meeting on the campus of St. John's University, at Gate 1, at 11 a.m. The address is 8000 Utopia Parkway, Jamaica.

“As the CBO analysis shows, the Recovery Act has lessened the effects of the worst recession in a generation and is beginning to help turn things around.

“The CBO found the Recovery Act is responsible for 600,000 to 1.6 million jobs and has raised GDP by 1.2 to 3.2 percent. Without the Recovery Act these jobs would have either disappeared or never existed in the first place and this positive economic growth would not have been possible.

“Our economy still has a long way to go and we will not rest until everyone who wants a job can find one, but the economy is no longer in a free-fall. Democrats in Congress showed real leadership by supporting the Recovery Act. Unfortunately, Republicans - the Party of NO -refused to offer an alternative. They stood on the sidelines as President Obama and Congressional Democrats took the steps necessary to reverse the economic decline they inherited after eight years of failed Republican economic policies. Now, by cheering for the Act’s failure, the GOP remains on the wrong side of history. As President Obama and Democrats continue to take steps to strengthen our economy, it’s time for Republicans to stop saying 'No', quit playing politics and start working with us on behalf of American families and workers.” Read More...
